Cape Town Safety
With Cape Town crime rates in the news, some visitors worry about choosing a safe area to stay in Cape Town and about knowing which Cape Town areas to avoid. Sometimes you can feel like you’re really taking a leap of faith when booking accommodation in a new part of the world.We also know that tourists have an even harder time choosing accommodation in Cape Town with the additional concerns about Cape Town crime & tourist safety.
So that’s why we have specifically put together a list of reviews of safe Cape Town accommodation. They are located in safe Cape Town areas that we would feel completely happy about if we were to stay there ourselves.
Safe Cape Town Backpackers
Green Point is a popular area for visitors because it is pretty central. Cape Town city, the V&A Waterfront, Sea Point Promenade and Camps Bay are all withing easy reach. A small part of Green Point not is ideal for visitors' accommodation though, but High Level Road is completely and utterly ideal.

As with Green Point, not all of Gardens is absolutley ideal for a visitor, however Mountain Manor Backpackers is absolutely fine. Gardens is veyr central and if you don't have your own car and are relying on taxis and shuttles, then Gardens is a great option.

Table View is further out and to the north of Cape Town. It is a family suburb and is about 5 minuts from a great kite-surfing beach (Blaauwberg Beach or Blouberg Beach depending on which spelling you like). If you are here for kite surfing then this is great. Really consider hiring your own car if you stay in Table View.

This is very central and if you are a party loving visitor, you can't go far wrong in Long Street. Much of Cape Town is accessible on foot from here and public transport is very easy from here.

Safe Cape Town B&Bs
Rondebosch is a solidly safe, conveniently siuated, attractive family suburb. You should hire a car if you stay here. Town is just 10 to 15 minutes away (outside of rush hour).

Situated in a good area of Hout Bay, Othandwendi is safe, near the beach, and near the shops. Hout Bay is a fantastic location for a visitor to locate themself. Do your research though, because Hout Bay has great areas and less ideal areas for a visitor. Othandwendi is a perfect and central location. You can walk to the beach at a push (10 mins), but you are not right on the seashore.

Bergvliet is a solid family suburb. I'll probably annoy the locals by remarking that it isn't perhaps as interesting a suburb as Rondebosch, but nevertheless, accommodation should cost slightly less, as it is about 10 minutes further from town.

Green Point and Sea Point are adjacent to one another. I would happily stay in either if I were looking for somewhere central. It is important to pick the right part of each suburb, and in that regard, St Bedes is perfect.

Higgovale is an upmarket residential suburb with great access to the Atlantic Seaboard and the City. If you want a more peaceful, classy residential suburb, this is a good option.

Safe Cape Town Hotels
Fresnaye is part of Sea Point and environs. If you like a more "city" feel, than say Higgovale, this is a good option. Fresnaye is very close to Clifton (home of the super rich), and it is also easy to stroll down to the Sea Point promenade in under 15 mins or even less, depending on where you are staying.

Greenmarket Square is as central as it gets. With most of Cape Town central accessible on foot from here, this is an ideal option for those without their own rental car.

Camps Bay is a wealthy suburb with fantastic sea and mountain views as it is wedged on the Atlantic side of the peninsula right between the ocean and Table Mountain. It has good access to the City and a world class coastal drive south to Hout Bay

Constantia is an upmarket residential suburb in Cape Town, with good access to the Constantia Wine Farms, to the City (12 mins non-rush hour) and to the south peninsula. I'd recommend hiring a car if you stay here.
