Claremont and Newlands are affluent family residential suburbs, about 10 minutes out of the city centre. Again, the nearer the mountainside, the more affluent, the further from the mountain the less affluent the area becomes.

The suburbs have great access to the city, to top schools, the university and to shopping at Cavendish Square. Furthermore, the area is just minutes away from mountain walks and Kirstenbosch Gardens. The area is more affordable than Bishopscourt and Constantia, which are the next suburbs along.
