My Top 3 Cape Town Restaurants

Luckily for me I live in Cape Town, since it takes a helluva lot more than a Big Mac to make me happy!

Cape Town is known for its amazingly diverse and internationally acclaimed restaurants. By international standards they’re incredibly well priced as well, so I never go hungry! There are so many restaurants to choose from, of which many have won international awards, that it’s easy to eat at a different restaurant each time you go out.

I have some personal favourites which I go back to time after time though, because for one reason or another, there’s just something that sets them apart in my mind from “Just another good Cape Town restaurant”.

So without further ado, here’s a little exclusive list of restaurants that get my nod. I’m sure you’ll enjoy them just as much as I do.

Gourmet Food at the Roundhouse.

Gourmet Food at the Roundhouse

The Roundhouse

The Roundhouse is on Kloof Rd high above Camps Bay, half way up to Kloof Nek. I ate here by accident a few months ago. My friend Stefan lives next door to the owner and arranged a private dining hall within the restaurant for us. Never in my life have I experienced such lavish service. The attention to detail, both in the service and the food was unreal. Particularly for Cape Town, where service isn’t the best. The food was out of the world.

Their website summarizes the experience pretty well, and will have you rushing to book an evening with them!

Wakame and Wafu

Wakame is a restaurant on Beach Road, Mouille Point, near the light house, and Wafu is the wine bar on the roof terrace above it. I love Wakame and Wafu, for their great location. You can’t beat a summer sunset dinner/drinks combination looking out over the stunning ocean, whilst savouring their international cuisine. They do an across the board range of quality food. My personal favourite is their sushi, washed down by any one of the Cape’s stunning Methode Cap Classique sparkling wines.

Stunning Asian Food at Kitima.

Kitima

Kitima at the Kronendal

Kitima is in Hout Bay Main Road and does simply the best Asian food around. The restaurant is inside an old Cape Dutch style building and the decor is almost baroque in its extravagance. If ambience is important when enjoying good food, Kitima is well worth a visit.

REMEMBER: Book in advance at all these restaurants. They are popular and often booked out.
