A trip to this area of Cape Town simply has to include a visit to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens which are on the border of Bishopscourt and Newlands. These gardens are world famous and showcase the amazing biodiversity of the Cape Floral Kingdom.

In the event that you haven’t hired your own car, there are a number of tourist buses that take visitors to the Kirstenbosch Gardens, so you can usually just enquire at your hotel or accommodation about public transport.

The City Sightseeing Hop On Hop Off Bus also stops at Kirstenbosch, so those without a rental car can also visit Kirstenbosch very easily.

If you are in Cape Town during summer, you should make a point of going to a Kirstenbosch Summer Concert. These concerts are held on Sunday evenings in the open air and feature popular musicians (both local and international) in a variety of styles from classical music to rock bands.
